Jim Bakker is committed to a mental institution for psychiatric evaluation after his psychiatrist reports that he's begun having hallucinations. Federal District Judge Robert Potter suspends Bakker's fraud trial after just four days and orders him taken to the Federal Correctional Institute in Butner — bound in handcuffs and leg shackles.

Dr. Basil Jackson of Milwaukee, who has been treating Jim Bakker for nine months, says:

"Mr. Bakker reported that when he left the courthouse, suddenly people outside took on the form of frightening animals which he felt were intent on destroying him, attacking him and hurting him."

In a few days, Judge Potter will rule that Jim Bakker is competent to stand trial.
