In Vilna (Vilnius), the Nazis establish two ghettos for the Jews. Those Jews considered unable to work are gathered in ghetto #2 while those who can work are put in ghetto #1.

In October, German Einsatzgruppen will go to the second ghetto and destroy it, killing all of the Jews inside.

By the end of 1941, the Einsatzgruppen will have killed around 40,000 Jews in this area.
