Sigmund Freud, suffering severely from cancer of the palate and jaw, asks his physician Max Schur to administer morphine until Freud dies. Freud has been suffering from cancer since 1923. Now it has reached the stage where it is inoperable and the pain has become more than he can bear.

Freud had previously made an arrangement with Dr. Schur to end his life when his condition became intolerable.

After consulting with Freud's daughter Anna, Max Schur will administer large doses of morphine today and tomorrow, leading to Freud's death on September 23.
