Evangelical-Lutheran Bishops Fire Pastors Over Prayer Against Violence Hot

Hans Meiser, August Marahrens, Theophil Wurm, and Julius Kühlewein, all regional bishops in the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Germany, agree to fire four leading pastors who, in light of the looming threat of war, decided to publish a general prayer that is supposed to "warn the military against violent excesses."

Even the Confessing Church refuses to endorse the prayer.
