U.S. Ambassador to Germany William Dodd: Support for Catholic Church has Diminished Hot

In a letter to the State Department, America's Ambassador to Germany, William E. Dodd, suggests that the recent trials against Catholic clergy for currency smuggling and immorality may be causing public support for the Catholic Church to drop.

This is, according to documents later revealed after World War II, a primary reason why the Nazi government is pursuing the trials. There is little real justification for all the legal charges — it's all about politics and power.
