Ali Höhler, convicted of shooting Nazi "martyr" Horst Ludwig Wessel, is murdered by Nazis while being transported back to prison after a police interrogation.

This is probably the first instance where someone duly sentenced to a legal punishment by the German courts is murdered extra-legally by the Nazis. It will not, however, be the last, because precisely that will become standard Nazi policy — at least until they are able to do away with traditional court procedures entirely.

Horst Wessel was a member of the SA who wrote the song "Die Fahne hoch" ("The Flag on High"), which becomes the Nazi Party anthem.
