Angela Maria "Geli" Raubal, daughter of Adolf Hitler's half-sister Angela Raubal who had moved in with her "uncle Alf" two years previously, is found dead in his Munich apartment from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She is just 23.

There have been rumors that Hitler was romantically involved with her, but he has always denied it. He has, at the very least, been emotionally dependent upon her and she upon him.

There is strong evidence that she wanted to get away from him but that he placed her under tremendous pressure to stay. She seems to have been a virtual prisoner: he controlled whom she could see and when she could go out, and always had someone trusted accompany her. It's likely, then, that depression caused by Hitler's mistreatment of her caused her to commit suicide.
