Friedrich Nietzsche's Sister Elisabeth Leaves Paraguay to Manage Nietzsche Archive

Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche
Source: Wikipedia

Friedrich Nietzsche's sister Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche returns from Nueva Germania (in Paraguay) to begin work on the Nietzsche Archive. She and her husband, Bernhard Förster, founded Nueva Germania as a German colony where they could demonstrate German superiority and live out their anti-Semitic, German nationalist fantasies.

The colony has failed utterly and Bernhard Förster has committed suicide, leaving Elisabeth with nothing left in Paraguay and no reason to stay. When she returns to Germany, where her mother is attempting to care for her brother at home, she reads his philosophical writings and begins to see how they can be twisted to support her own nationalism and anti-Semitism.

Friedrich Nietzsche's writings are only just now starting to be more widely read and discussed, and Elisabeth intends to take control of them — and her brother, at least until his death.
