Immanuel Kant registers for classes at the University of Königsberg. He is free to study any subject he wants without being restricted by any particular religious rules. He chooses to focus on physics, mathematics, philosophy and natural sciences.

The death of his father in 1746 will leave him without any sort of income and thus financially unable to complete his studies, so he begins working as a private tutor for wealthy families. This allows him to complete his education and take a position as a lecturer in math and physics at Königsberg University.

Immanuel Kant will spend the next fifteen years as a lecturer, sometimes teaching for 26-28 hours each week. This is a significant teaching burden, but he will nevertheless continue publishing papers, making it possible for him to get a professorship at Königsberg in 1770.
