Residents of Deggendorf, Bavaria, believe that Jews have stolen and "tortured" a consecrated wafer from the Catholic church. Christians, acting out of a "legitimate zeal pleasing to God," proceed to kill all the Jews.

Out of the recovered wafer, a "lovely little child" miraculously arises. A picture of the massacre which hangs in one of the town's churches states:

"God grant that our Fatherland be forever free from this hellish scum."
