William Murray, the oldest son of Madalyn Murray (later O'Hair) refuses to pray at school. For the past couple of days teachers have prevented him from getting to his homeroom and registering an official protest against the morning religious services — they know that if he does it, the school will have to respond and a legal case will ensue.
Today, William Murray is able to avoid the teachers trying to protect morning Bible reading and prayer recitation by entering the school through a back door. His homeroom teacher notices his presence, but assumes that the dispute has been worked out so allows him to stay.
After he lodges his protest, he leaves homeroom and goes to the school office.
