Germany's Vatican Ambassador, Diego von Bergen, Says Pope Pius XI Going Public With Criticisms

Diego von Bergen, Germany's ambassador to the Vatican, informs his government that Pope Pius XI might soon go public with his criticism of repeated violations of the new concordat going on in Germany. Bergen gets this information from Vatican Secretary of State Eugenio Pacelli, the future Pope Pius XII.

What concerns Pope Pius XI the most are the ways the expected rights of Catholics are being infringed upon. He does not express any concern with the massive disenfranchisement of Jews or even the ongoing destruction of both democracy and civil liberty in Germany.
