Reichbishop Ludwig Müller creates a commission to investigate the legality of the actions of the former Civil Administrator, Dr. August Jäger, in suppressing the liberties of the regional churches — in particular, in deposing various bishops and suspending pastors.

Last month, Jäger removed from office Bishop Theophil Wurm in Württemberg and Bishop Hans Meiser in Bavaria. These actions were greeted with large-scale protests, preventing the changes from taking place. The ultimate responsibility for these actions lies with Reichbishop Müller, but August Jäger is taking the blame and had to resign a few days ago.

The commission created by Reichbishop Müller will work with the Reich Ministry of Justice under Dr. Franz Gürtner, who will be responsible for deciding whether Jäger's actions were legal or not.
