The home of Ahmed Chalabi, a member of the Iraqi Governing Council, is raided by U.S. forces who seize a number of documents. Chalabi had been supported by the U.S. government, but now all ties are cut between the two.

In fact relations have been deteriorating for some time, and in January of 2004 he positioned himself as a champion of Iraq's Shi'ites; later he is accused of passing secrets to Iran.
