Idaho Gem is born, becoming the first successful clone of any member of the horse family. He will be followed followed by siblings Utah Pioneer on June 9 and Idaho Star on July 27.

These clones are created by the Northwest Equine Reproduction Laboratory at the University of Idaho. The clones derive from eggs from horses and cells taken from the 45-day-old fetus of a mule.
