A boycott by Benito Mussolini's fascist party is making it difficult for the Vatican to distribute its newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano.

Distribution in Rome is halted entirely, and a stand for the newspapers within the Vatican is guarded — as are all entrances to the Vatican.

The issue which printed a message from Pope Pius XII to King Leopold, Queen Wilhelmina and Grand Duchess Charlotte sold 150,000 issues; today only 35,000 are printed.
