A Nazi killing center for the euthanasia program (Operation T4) begins operating at Hartheim Castle near Linz.

In this first month of operation 633 people are killed; between now and August 1941 there will be 18,269 people killed here. The murders are called "disinfection," and an employee pamphlet estimates that 141,775,573.80 Reichsmarks worth of food are saved by the killing of these people.
