Haile Selassie Flees Addis Ababa Before Italian Forces Invade

Haile Selassie
Source: Wikipedia

Haile Selassie is forced to flee Addis Ababa. Much of the rest of the Ethiopian government will flee before Italian forces a few days later.

Haile Selassie will appeal to the League of Nations for help against Italy, pointing out that his country is poor whereas the Italians have an advanced, modern military, an air force, and chemical weapons.

He becomes a symbol for anti-fascists around the world for his impassioned plea, but in the end the League of Nations will do nothing whatsoever for Ethiopia.
