Walter Mayers, a Swiss judge, finds that the notorious anti-Semitic text The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is both a forgery and a work of plagiarism, and it should be banned as "smut literature."
According to Mayers, the Protocols are "intended to incite popular passion against a portion of the population and hence calculated to lead to agitation and violence."
Swiss Jews had brought a defamation lawsuit against the editors of a pro-Nazi newspaper in Bern, Switzerland, for publishing articles that proclaim the truth of the anti-Semitic The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. The defendants were unable to support the truth of their claims, and it's likely that they knew full well that the text was a forgery.
Their entire "defense" consisted of attacking the plaintiffs, and they turn the trial into a platform for political bullying — a standard tactic used by the Nazis to great effect in Germany.
