Nazi Party Wins 14 Seats in Reichstag, are Considered a Political Joke

German National Elections, 1928 (KPD = Communists, SPD = Socialists)
Source: Korny78

The Nazi Party wins 14 seats in the German Reichstag. They only receive 810,000 votes out of more than 31 million votes cast and are generally regarded as a political joke, not a serious political force.

Membership in Adolf Hitler's NSDAP at this time is a paltry 108,000. By 1931, however, there will be over 800,000 members, due largely to the efforts and skill of Gregor Strasser.

Socialists and communists, in contrast, win big in today's elections. The Social Democratic Party (SPD) gets 29.8% for an increase of 22 seats in the Reichstag and the Communist Party (KPD) gets 10.6% for an increase of 9 seats.
