Michael von Faulhaber is appointed Archbishop of Munich und Freising. As Cardinal in Munich, Faulhaber will be a significant force behind the German Catholic Church's support for Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party.

He never joins the Nazi Party himself, but Faulhaber is nevertheless an ardent nationalist who will promote peaceful cooperation with what he sees as the lawful government in Germany. He will sometimes criticize the Nazis, but only when it comes to policies which directly affect Catholics;, even then, he will avoid going public with his thoughts.
