A seventh and final state constitution is signed by delegates at the constitutional convention in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Included in this constitution is a provision permanently banning polygamy, a major concession to the anti-polygamist forces in the rest of the nation which have been preventing Utah statehood on the basis of Mormon polygamy.
