Mormons gather in large numbers at the Salt Lake Tabernacle in Salt Lake City to protest the growing crackdown of federal authorities against polygamy.

Similar protest meetings are held in Mormon communities all across Utah. Large numbers of Mormons have been taken into custody; many more leave the country entirely, setting up Mormon communities in Canada and Mexico.

Mormon leaders vote to send representatives to President Grover Cleveland to explain their concerns and ask that the federal government cease being so aggressive in its pursuit and persecution of polygamist Mormons.
