The New Jerusalem Church, more popularly known as Swedenborgianism, is formally established in London. It is based upon the writings of Swedish scientist and mystic Emanuel Swedenborg.

Swedenborg, who died in 1772, was a scientist, philosopher, theologian, and Christian mystic. He claimed to have prophetic powers.
