Pope Gregory XI issues five papal bulls condemning the doctrines of English theologian John Wycliffe. He had appeared before Catholic bishops earlier in the year to defend his ideas but was unsuccessful.

Among Wycliffe's more problematic ideas are that everyone should be allowed to read the Bible, and that the Christian Church should be poor.
