Large Egyptian Army Marches Towards Ascalon Against Crusaders

A large Egyptian army under the command of Sharaf al-Ma'ali, the son of the Egyptian Vezier, marches towards Ascalon to drive the Crusading invaders out of the Holy Land.

Christian Crusaders had captured Ascalon the year before and it has since been fortified by Godfrey of Bouillon.
