Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus (later known as Caligula) is born.

Early on Caligula is described as a moderate and decent leader, but something happens after his second year that changes everything. Instead of becoming known for his moderation, Caligula will become infamous for his cruelty and eccentricities.

Even among Roman emperors and aristocracy, he will become extreme — too extreme to tolerate. There will be several plots against his life, but on 24 January, 41 CE, an assassination conspiracy involving both several senators and officers in his own Praetorian Guard will succeed.
