In Turkey, a restaurant frequented by freemasons is attacked by two Islamic suicide bombers killing one and injuring five. This attack occurs 911 days after the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City.

The five Masonic organizations in Turkey date back to when British and French governments controlled the region and it is estimated that around 10,000 people belong to them. Among religious Turks, though, the Masonic organizations are perceived as being pro-Zionist, pro-Western, and pro-secular.
