The only person found guilty thus far in a court of law for participation in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Moroccan al-Qaeda suspect Mounir el Motassadeq, has that verdict overturned by a German appeals court. He is ordered to stand for a new trial.

His conviction will be reinstated after yet another appeal and he will be sentenced to 15 years in prison. Mounir el Motassadeq has always maintained that he is innocent and has never participated in any terrorist activity.
