Islamic Jihad delivers a truck bomb to the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, killing 29 and injuring 242. Most of the victims are Argentine civilians. In addition to the embassy itself, a Catholic church and nearby school are destroyed.

The Islamic Jihad Organization has been linked to both Iran and Hezbollah. American intelligent services will discover that Iran at least learns of the attack in advance, even if they weren't involved in the planning.
