Coastal Road Massacre: Palestinian terrorists take control of an Israeli bus near Haifa and attempt to drive it, along with its passengers, to Tel Aviv. Gun battles with police along the way cause the bus to burst into flame and 38 civilians are ultimately killed, including 13 children.

The PLO operation has been called the worst terrorist attack ever because the original target is supposed to be a luxury hotel filled with foreign tourists. Because they reach the Israeli coast 40 miles north of where they're supposed to be, they start shooting randomly at passing cars on a highway and finally hijack a bus.

There is no real effort to reach the original target without detection and carry out the original plan. It's "Keystone Terrorists" at their worst.
