The Gestapo conducts its first search of Albert Einstein's country home in Caputh, near Berlin. According to the official announcement, they are looking for arms and ammunition.

They seem to want people to believe that Albert Einstein might be part of a plot to engage in armed insurrection against the Nazi government in Germany. Einstein's wife responds by saying:

"All the world knows the professor is a pacifist and all they could find was a bread knife and a toy pistol which was in reality a pencil."
