Adriaan Florenszoon Boeyens is born. Adriaan will become Pope Adrian VI, the last non-Italian Pope until John Paul II is elected in the 20th cnetury.

Adrian will also be one of just two modern popes who keeps his baptismal name rather than adopt a new name upon becoming pope.
