The city of Mosul, Iraq, submits to Saladin. He had besieged Mosul the previous year but had to break off due to illness. Izz ad-Din Masud chooses to make a peace treaty with Saladin rather than risk destruction. Saladin allows Izz ad-Din Masud to remain nominally in charge.
