B. F. Skinner begins writing The Sun is But a Morning Star, but before publication the title will be changed to Walden Two.
This book will describe a fictional, experimental community where productivity and happiness are far above that of the rest of the world because everything is managed with scientific social planning and kids are raised according to operant conditioning.
Like Thoreau's book Walden which inspired it, Walden Two by Skinner is a utopian community which has eliminated with war, competition, conspicuous consumption and social strife. Instead of personal competition, citizens develop deeper personal relationships, minimal consumption, and satisfying work.
