Eugenio Pacelli, later Pope Pius XII, is appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Germany.

This office is the diplomatic post for the Vatican to the nation of Germany, so an Apostolic Nuncio is the Vatican's ambassador.

Eugenio Pacelli has already been nuncio to Bavaria since 1917, and since there wasn't a nuncio to Germany at the time, he was also already effectively nuncio to the German Empire.

Thus this appointment as Apostolic Nuncio to Germany is, in a sense, making official something that has already been unofficial for a while.
