Emperors Banish All Manichaeans From Roman Empire

Emperors Valentinian II, Theodosius I, and Arcadius banish all Manichaeans from the Roman Empire and order that all their property be confiscated.

This new law on Manichaeans says:

"If anyone disturbs the empire under the name of Manichaeans, they must be expelled from the whole empire and especially from Constantinople.

Any wills written by such people are not permitted to have the force of testaments and their property will be confiscated. No property can be left through them or to them. Put simply, they must be denied the ability to have anything in common with the world." [CTh 16.5.18]

Manichaeans follow the teachings of Mani, a Persian prophet who taught that the world is in a struggle between good and evil, light and dark. The Manichaean religion created by Mani is an amalgamation of elements form Christianity, Buddhism, and Zoroastrianism.
