Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Jordan's King Hussein sign an agreement at the White House, ending their 46-year-old formal state of war. Known as the Washington Declaration, it falls short of a full peace treaty, but it's also more than just a joint statement.

This is, however, the first time the two have ever met in public, let alone shake hands.
