Massive Israeli retaliatory raids into southern Lebanon force the Lebanese government to reconsider its support for the Palestinian Liberation Organization.

As a consequence, the government and the PLO reach an agreement stipulating that the terrorist organization would withdraw from most of the bases in southern Lebanon and engage only in defensive actions.
