The Nazi government in Germany passes a law authorizing the forced sterilization of anyone suffering from a number of genetic conditions: Congenital Mental Deficiency, Schizophrenia, Manic-Depressive Insanity, Hereditary Epilepsy, Hereditary Chorea, Hereditary Blindness, Hereditary Deafness, any severe hereditary deformity, and even severe alcoholism.

The law (Law for the Prevention of Genetically Diseased Offspring, German: Gesetz zur Verhütung erbkranken Nachwuchses) won't take effect until January 1, 1934, and during its first year 62,400 Germans will be forcibly sterilized.
