Bavarian People's Party Dissolves Itself

The Bavarian People's Party (Bayerische Volkspartei; BVP) "voluntarily" dissolves itself, whereupon many prominent Catholics who had been arrested the prior month are released.

The BVP is a right-wing political party in Bavaria that had intended to work with the Nazis but which proves to not be ideologically pure enough.

Cardinal Michael von Faulhaber of Bavaria, Germany's powerful Catholic leader, suggests that they should have dissolved themselves already because "the era of parties is over anyway" and every loyal German must get behind the Nazi movement.
