Scopes Monkey Trial: Bainbridge Colby resigns as one of John Scopes' defense attorneys. Colby had been William Jennings Bryan's successor as Secretary of State under Woodrow Wilson, and he had been picked for the job as defense attorney by the ACLU; Arthur Garfield Hays will take his place.

Bainbridge Colby is unable to participate in the Scopes Monkey Trial because of another legal case that he has to attend to in New York.
