The Christian Endeavor Society, an early forerunner of the American Christian Right, institutes a campaign to ban movies depicting kissing between non-relatives.

Also known as the United Society Of Christian Endeavor, it is an interdenominational organization for Protestant youth. It was founded in 1881 by Francis Edward Clark, who remains its president until 1927.
