The General Assembly of the Church of Scotland at Edinburgh adopts the Westminster Larger Catechism. This, along with the Shorter Catechism, will been in use among Presbyterians, Baptists, and Congregationalists for centuries.

The Westminster Shorter Catechism is created to be "easier to read and concise for beginners" while the Westminster Larger Catechism is created to be "more exact and comprehensive."
