Siege of Belgrade: Under the command of Mehmed II, 60-70,000 Ottoman Turks begin a siege of Belgrade. Only 5,000-7,000 Christian defenders are in the city's fortress. Fortunately, this fortress is one of the best engineered defensive positions in Europe, and the Serbs are able to hold out until reinforcements can arrive.

Ever since his conquest of Constantinople, Mehmed II has been moving forward across the Balkans and is working on completely subjugating Hungary.
