Saladin Makes Final Assault on Crusader Army Besieging Acre but Fails

King Philip II Augustus of France at the Siege of Acre

Siege of Acre: Saladin launches a final assault on the 50,000 strong Crusader army besieging Acre, but he fails to break through to the city to reinforce it.

This leaves Acre in a desperate situation because the Crusaders have managed to breach the city's two outermost walls and they will soon be able to enter the city once they decide upon a plan of battle.

Because of the appearance of King Richard I of England and King Philip II Augustus of France with their armies over the past couple of months, Acre will no longer be able to hold out as now Saladin is unable reinforce the city.
