Publius Aelius Hadrianus, better known as Emperor Hadrian, is born, probably in Rome. It's uncertain whether his family is Italian and they simply move to the Spanish province, near Seville, or if his family comes from Spain and simply spent time in Rome.

Most historians believe that the latter is more likely, though his ancestors seem to have originally come from Hadria, a town in Italy.

When he becomes emperor, he will adopt the name Caesar Publius Aelius Traianus Hadrianus Augustus.
