Timeline of History

Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, better known as Caligula, is assassinated. Infamous for his cruelty and eccentricities, even among Roman emperors and aristocracy, he has finally become too extreme to tolerate. There have already been several plots against his life, but finally one that involves officers in his own Praetorian Guard is successful.

Caligula is stabbed to death in a manner similar to that of the assassination of Julius Caesar. Caligula's more loyal Germanic guards retaliate by slaughtering the conspirators as well as bystanders who simply get in the way.
