Louis XVI of France is Beheaded

Timeline of History

The French Convention found Louis XVI guilty of high treason, believing that he has colluded with foreign European monarchs and governments against the people of France. It's possible that the charges are true, but other European monarchs needed no prodding form Louis to oppose the French Revolution, even to the point of invading France.

No monarch wanted their own people to get the idea that they had an ability or right to depose their monarchy and install a republican government.
