Conrad Gröber is appointed Bishop of Meissen, Germany. Later as archbishop, Gröber will play an important role in encouraging German Catholics to work more closely with the Nazi Party and Nazi government.

Conrad Gröber never joins the Nazi Party, but his endorsements of the Nazis and their agenda are so strong that people begin to refer to him as Conrad the Brown. This doesn’t mean that he will never criticize the Nazi government, but his critical remarks are almost entirely limited to those areas which directly affect the Catholic Church.
